Varanasi - Ganges Bonding
As we have already said that by doing Ganga Aarti, we worship our holy river Ganges. Here natural question will arise, why we worship so much and what is the significance of Ganges to Varanasi? Both Varanasi are Ganges are incomplete by each other. They are introduction of each other. We as India call it "Mother Ganges" as it has given scope for civilization on its bank. The city of Varanasi has grown, flourished also lot due to river Ganges giving it maximum path and its river flow course. Ganges takes a surrounding circle turn around Varanasi city geographically thereby providing the city best possible river shores, more and more ghats, helping to develop river based transport services more etc. A huge population in Varanasi city and nearby around area depends for its daily livestock earning on river Ganga. With that all being said, it is undeniable and clearly understandable why Ganges river is so much essential, holy, sacred and important to not just Hindus but to entire population of Varanasi and to other parts of India which fall on the flow path of Ganges. Within the workshops that lined the lanes of Varanasi, artisans created dazzling objects and fabrics out of wood, stone and silk. These were then taken to the wholesale markets and loaded onto ships on the Ganga for trade. It is this confluence of commerce, religion, the arts and education that has resulted in the buoyant Banarasi spirit, which still continues in its lanes and neighborhoods. It is an attitude towards life that is both philosophical and practical, that strives for a balance between hard work and leisure, and actively values the mingling of cultures, classes and religions.
